This is Amit Kumar, I am an aspirant looking forward to study medicine abroad. I understand that many of you have been trying for AIPMT and want to get medical seat in any part of Russia, But guys do you think its really easy??
Lets face some facts about Studying medicine in India
- There are only 41,569 seats for MBBS in India but every year around 10 lakhs students appear in various all india and state PMTs.
- Only 335 Medical Colleges are there in India, out of them 181 are Private and 154 are Government colleges
- India marked 67th among the developing countries, but in the case of doctor-population ratio. 1:2000 approx
- There is a shortage of 10 Lakh doctors in India. There are 7 Lakh doctors against a requirement of 17 Lakhs.
- In India total 10 Lakh students appear in various entrance examinations out of that 15% clears the examination
Now after having a look at these data you must be making up your mind to change your line as it is so difficult to get seat in India.
Russian medical courses are getting their deserved acclaim across the global education industry. As more and more students from across the world are targeting Russian Universities for courses like MBBS, BDs and MDS.

Q) What are the requisites for Practising/studying medicine in Russia? Are medical degrees from Russian Universities recognised by any Russian or Indian bodies?
A) As per the amendment to the Indian Medical Act, 1956, any Indian student intending to study medicine in any medical college anywhere in abroad for a graduate medical course has to obtain an eligibility certificate from the Medical Council of India, New Delhi before joining the medical college abroad. After the successful completion of the course, the student is expected to appear or a screening test conducted by the National Board of Examination as required by the Medical Council of India prior to the registration with the Medical Council of India. The academic requirement for the eligibility certificate as defined by the Medical Council of India for the general is an aggregate 50% marks in the Physics / Chemistry and Biology and 40% in case of the reserved category. Since you would likely be doing your specialisation from a Russian University, which is listed by the WHO in its "Directory of world medical schools", you would be eligible to appear for screening examinations to many screening examinations like PLAB etc.
Q) Does the student have to give any entrance examination for joining the university in Russia?
A) There is NO entrance examination for Students targeting Russian Universities. The admissions are based on the 12th standard marks for the Graduate courses and as per the equivalency of the Indian graduate degree with the Russian degrees for the post graduate courses. All admissions are strictly on a first come first served basis.
Q) Are there any scholarships or grants available for foreign/Indian students?
A) Russian education is highly subsidised by the Government of the Russian Federation. Therefore there are no separate scholarships or grants available from individual universities. However, bank loans are now available from all nationalised, co-operative and the private sector banks. These loans are available at very low interest and are generally repaid in easy instalments one year after the completion of the educational period.

Also take along all personal items you deem necessary for travelling and staying in Russia including winter wear.

During vacations, students can either travel to their home countries or even look forward to seasonal employment/business in Russia.
*Yes you can travel back to India, Dont forget to get the Famous Russian Choclates for your friends and families, this could be great delicacies for them
Q) Are there any mess facilities in University Hostels? What type of food is usually available?
A) Cafeterias and mess facilities are available in almost every Russian Universities. Indian, Chinese, Arabian, Italian and Malaysian mess are also available. All types of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes are provided, especially to International students. There is also a rich variety of milk products and fruits available.
*Friends, don't expect the oily sabji and fried pakodas and spicy food as Russians are boiled foodeaterian and prefer low salt and spices which may prove to be a total disaster to your tongue until you get used to of it.

ReplyDeleteGuys If we are planning to study in Russia then we will have to study for total of 6 years with again 1 year of internship in India as per MCI so total 7 years study time without any earnings and also before your internship we need to clear MCI Screeening test in order to practise :o :/ then if seeing as per duration Rus. and all other Eu countries has same format bettr we should choose somewhere els :/

Why you will choose Russia instead of other Countries like China, Philippines etc.
01. China too much expensive from 2014 onwards. Almost Rs 20 lac starting package. Plus if you do internship in China you will have spend one year's full Tuition Fees and Hostel charges beside other expenses.
02. Philippines also equally expensive plus in Philippines you will have to do 1.5 Yrs Pre medical and then clear NMAT test and then 4 Yrs medical.
03. Last 2 years lot of students has been expelled from China on ground of attendance, bad conduct etc. We know its great pain for those students who has been expelled in 2nd or 3rd year. Russia is much more liberal to foreign students regarding this matter.
04. A few students cant clear NMAT in Philippines because there are subjects like Integral and Differential Calculus, Medical Physics, Psychology etc in their pre medical. Plz note that NMAT can be given only 3 times in total.
We find only one disadvantage in Russia is that the course duration. In Russia its 6+1 = 7 Yrs including Internship, where as in China its 6 Yrs ( 5+1 ) and Philippines its 6.5 Yrs ( 5.5 + 1 ).. But we think a duration of 6 months or 1 year extra is much better than not getting degree at all.
its better not getting a degree than to pay money in order to buy it...money is the main aspect in whole u.s.s.r for each subject one has to pay 300$+chocolate box/cake+a bottle of wine.no matter how hard u study or if u already have passed your exam with your own caliber.
